Parent-Child Music Programs

William Patrick Day Early Childhood Center

Music and Movement

This experience will provide an opportunity for you and your child to explore a variety of movement and music activities led by Martha Trapp, certified adapted physical education specialist, and Marcia Humpal, board certified music therapist. There will be a time for movement exploration, followed by a music circle time. These classes are for children, ages 6 months to 4 years. An adult must attend and participate with each child.

 

Participants are welcome also to join the swim sessions before or after the movement and music sessions.

Forest Hill Center

Music and Movement

This group will provide opportunities for caregivers and their child, ages 12 months through 3 years, to explore music and movement through rhymes, chants, songs, instruments and movement. Participants are welcome also to register for Parent and Tot Swim that meets immediately before this class.

Rock-A-Bye Babies

This group is designed to provide a gentle first music experience for caregivers and their young child, up to 12 months. A combination of wiggles, tickles, bounces and songs will be used. Other team members may also participate. Participants are welcome to register for Parent and Baby Swim that meets immediately after this class.

 

Fridays, 9:15- 9:45 a.m.

 

Both of these classes are led by Gayle Burdick, board certified music therapist.

Shaker Family Center

Parent & Tot Music Group

This music group is for children, ages 6 months to 3 years, and their parent(s) or caregiver(s). We will use rhymes, chant and songs, play instruments, dance and move to the music. Space is limited and you must register prior to the first session. Sessions are conducted by Gayle Burdick, board certified music therapist.

Westshore YMCA

HarmoniKIDS
In cooperation with the Westshore YMCA

These sessions are for children with and without disabilities and their parents/caregivers. Capture learning moments with your child through 30 minutes of interactive musical activities led by Marcia Humpal, board certified music therapist. Developmental Specialists Eileen Matyjasik and Maureen Schroeck will facilitate an additional 15 minutes of playing, conversation and information sharing with the group.

10-10:45 a.m. for 22-30-month-olds

Beach Education Center

Lullaby Babies

Lullaby Babies is designed to be a gentle first music experience for babies 6-12 months of age (chronological and adjusted). Board certified music therapist Marcia Humpal will provide the framework and musical ideas you can incorporate into baby’s daily routine. Developmental Specialists Eileen Matyjasik and Maureen Schroeck will facilitate additional time for playing, sharing and conversation within the group.

 

Thursdays, 1:15- 2 p.m.


Ready, Set…MUSIC!

This class is for the child who is nearing age 3 and is almost ready to join community classes, music groups or preschool. Marcia Humpal, board-certified music therapist, will lead the group and will be joined by occupational therapist Paula Michaud and developmental specialists Eileen Matyjasik and Maureen Schroeck.
